What is the Church

Saint Peter Canisius, The Great Catechism: “The Church is the society of all those who profess the faith and doctrine of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Pastors, who, in this capacity, entrusted its leadership and governance to the apostle Saint Peter, and, in the person of the latter, to his successors.”

Matthew 16:18-19: “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys to the kingdom of Heaven; and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.”
