The "Feeneyism" Myth Exposed
The term “Feeneyism” is used by heretics to give them an excuse for rejecting the well defined dogma Outside the Church no Salvation.
The Catholic Church has infallibly taught that there is no salvation outside the Church and that baptism is necessary for salvation. Yet modernists and heretics refuse to accept this truth, attacking those who uphold it. This is exactly what happened to Father Leonard Feeney, who publicly defended this dogma in the 1940s and 1950s, only to be silenced by Archbishop Richard Cushing and others who had already embraced the heresy of religious indifferentism. They falsely labeled his teaching as extreme, even though it was nothing more than the defined doctrine of the Church.
Feeney’s case wasn’t about him, it was about whether one accepts or rejects Christ’s teaching. Those who opposed him sided with error, paving the way for the disastrous compromises of Vatican II.
