Martin Luther’s letter to Melanchthon: “Be a sinner, sin boldly; but believe even more boldly and rejoice in Christ, the conqueror of sin, death, and the world. Sinning is a necessity for us as long as we are on earth. Even if we were to commit a thousand fornications and a thousand murders every day, nothing would ever separate us from Christ.”
